Our “Holiday Planet” from Space

Filed under: Thoughts about Life — Human MECHANIC @ 5:36 am

Dear Friends,

Have you ever wanted to see what our planet looks like during night time when you’re travelling in space? Well, you don’t have to go far or spend lots of money to achieve that ‘cos I’ve included some pictures of Earth here. It’s not exactly the raw photos taken from space but it had been nicely edited so that you get a clearer view of Earth during the night from space without any clouds covering your view at all! Enjoy ;)

Earth during the Night over Asia

It’s fascinating to know that the street lights from our towns, villages and cities could be seen from space! From the picture that you had seen above and those in this article, you could easily figure out where the majority of people live… well, this is evident from the bright lights that shined from their street lights and anything that produced light. From far, we could see how inter-connected we are because we’re all living in the same planet. So remember to take care of our planet because it’s not like we could go live somewhere else!

Now, back to the picture: Places like Japan and India are so lighted up… looking at the Northern part of the Asian Continent, you can roughly make out the connections between towns and cities in Russia. And when you look at the bottom of the picture, you could even see the outline of South East Asia ;)

Earth during the Night over Australia

From the picture, most of the people in Australia lives in the Eastern and South-East part of the country. You could also see the outline of the two main islands that make up New Zealand ;)

Earth during the Night over America

The mid-section of North America seems to be quite evenly distributed with inhabitants, especially the Eastern side. That’s because the Western side is mostly covered by the Rocky Mountain range which made it quite hard to build large scale towns or cities due to uneven terrain.

Earth during the Night over Europe

The whole of Europe is very bright with inhabitants… especially the Western side where most of the richer countries of Europe are situated.

Earth during the Night over Africa

Africa when compared to the other continents seemed like it’s pretty much uninhabited… probably because of most of it’s Northern part is taken up by the Sahara Desert.

The North Pole region generally looks uninhabited as it’s too cold!

Now, let’s see the overall picture of Earth during the Night. (Please note it’s not to scale as the North Pole & South Pole had been stretched to show all continents at once)

Note: I’ve called Earth a “Holiday Planet” because like going on a holiday, we stay in a place (in this case, staying in Planet Earth) only for a while before we leave. Well, with every passing second of time, our lives are actually shorter by a second. So, in fact, if you ask a pessimist, he would tell you with every passing second of time, we’re all counting down to the day we die.. or may I put it this way, “expire”. (If you wish to read more about my thoughts about our “Holiday Planet”, please click the page “about me” on the right side of this webpage).

Nobody knows exactly when he or she will “expire” but most people probably didn’t bother to think about it until they’re very sick or had a serious accident or injury before they start taking care of their health, and maybe start thinking if they are doing the right things with the time they possess. I hope we constantly review how we spend every precious minute and hour of our life and treasure those we love and those who love us before it’s too late. Remember to cherish what you have and not be too engrossed with getting things you do not have and neglect your dear ones around you. Well, you could start by giving a call, right now, to someone who care about you. Have a Wonderful Weekend! ;)
